
Working with an OBM in your business can be a very intimate role and personal choice. I may or may not be the right fit for you. So here goes!
am I your jam?
If the very wording of “am I your jam?” sends a chill down your spine with it’s casual use of slang, then I am, most likely, not your jam.
You might be able to tell by my web site or social media, but I’m not super formal. I’m all about getting down to business, and can be quite serious, but in my communication style I’m a little playful, casual and frank. If that’s your jam, let’s do it!
I’m a feeler
I’m logical, but also intuitive. I pick up on things you don’t say. I see puzzle pieces and can’t help but fit them together. Sometimes I take intuitive leaps.
I’m big on EQ (emotional intelligence). I care about how you are feeling about your business.
I believe you should feel good in your business. YES, dollars and cents matter. Amen. But if your business doesn’t feel good too, what’s the point?
I believe the people we work with should feel good and be a good fit. As your OBM, I want to click with you and collab with you. I want you to feel safe to open up. I want to be an encouragement, and a positive, uplifting voice.
Feeling good in your business doesn’t mean everything feels good all the time! But I see feelings as an indicator light, pointing out where it may need a tweak (or a big adjustment). I believe when you have clarity on what you want and your business is aligned to your values and your goals, it feels good.
Clarity + alignment is my north star
I want to help you build a business with intention, one that feels aligned and makes sense.
I don’t like gimmicks, get rich quick schemes or trends. I don’t like to do things “because everyone else is doing them” or “so and so says you should…”. I like to do things in service of providing value rather than pressure or manipulation to squeeze out another dime.
I want to help you get crystal clear on who your customer is, what you offer, your message, your vision, your values, your goals and your business model.
With that in hand, I design a business machine for you – the plan, the processes, the tools, the data – to make it all run smoothly.
I love systems
I talk a lot about creating your business machine. Why? Because I think for a lot of us we can get stuck in certain parts of our business, stuck in overthinking, decision-making, procrastination loops or dread. Making your business run like a machine – defined, repeatable steps – takes the pressure off and helps you create long-term consistency.
But I also love simplicity
Systems shouldn’t exist for their own sake. They should serve you and your business. They should never be over-engineered or more complicated than they need to be. The simplest solution is often the best.
My approach
I tend to look at the big picture – the strategy, the mile high view – first, before considering tools, tech & tactics.
When it comes to tools & tech, I have my favorites, but I’m tool-agnostic. I can work in the tools you prefer. It’s about understanding the principles and design of the systems I’m creating for you and not the specific tool.
Communication is King (or Queen)
I work with my clients to set clear expectations. I want to know what success looks like for you and what you expect from me. Then I communicate regularly on progress, challenges, adjustments and wins.
I like to have a clear plan – goals and scope of work for our time together.
That being said, I’m also flexible. Plans shouldn’t be set in stone because we learn as we go and I’m open to flexing with you as your plans change.
I’m here for you
I love supporting my clients as a listening ear, sounding board, brainstormer and advisor. Sometimes business owners can get stuck in their own head and just need to talk things through aloud or need a second opinion. I love this part of my job!
I also love being your accountability buddy and helping you stay on track with your priorities if that’s something you need. When you’re a business owner it can sometimes be hard to create your own structure that helps you avoid distractions and hit your targets, I love being this support structure for you as your OBM.
