Sometimes when I talk to other women and I mention that I’m an Online Business Manager and I talk about how I help women manage their businesses, it’s like stepping into the confessional booth.
Women tell me how they’re not organized, how they’ve tried and failed at using different management systems or how chaotic their thoughts or their schedule can be. Sometimes I pick up on an undercurrent of guilt and shame, like somehow they’re failing to meet some standard.
I get it. We’re surrounded by these messages of perfectionism – beautiful, gleaming organizational systems and people who seem to have it all and be on top of it all on social media. I think we know it’s a pretty big smokescreen, but it gets to us sometimes.
Can we talk HONESTLY about the “Good Girl” myths around being organized?
Q: Who here was BORN organized?
Raise your hand!
Nobody….?
Ok. Me Neither.
I’m not a “naturally” organized person. I learned to be that way because I needed to, ok? But it’s ok if you’re not!
Can we LET GO of this idea that it makes us “better” people – virtuous, superior – if we are so organized our homes and offices and purses look like something from a photo shoot.
Can we LET GO of the idea that being ON TOP OF IT ALL makes us “Good Girls”?
You are not broken. Nothing is wrong with you!
YOU are fine. No. Great. Wonderful. Just the way you are.
In all your crazy, chaotic creative flow & glory. That’s where your uniquely YOU ideas come from. You don’t need to change into a different person to run a successful business.
Here’s the secret (to keeping your sanity)
EVERYTHING does not need to be purrrrfectly organized. You don’t need a planner with matching pen and pretty stickers (unless you want one).
Organizing everything in your business does NOT MATTER.
What matters?
…is knowing what truly matters most in your business and making sure THAT is working the way you want it to.
And OH BOY, here’s the GOOD NEWS. Ready?
You don’t have to do it yourself.
Yup. You can jam and jive and create and connect in lead in your juicy zone of genius…
AND make it someone else’s job to organize & manage it all FOR YOU. Guilt-free.
p.s. That person is an OBM, like me! My joy is judgment-free support of my creative clients. Because you don’t have to do it all alone.
